Woodland Hills, a few miles away, recorded 121°F on September 6, 2020, the highest temperature ever measured in Los Angeles County ([ABC7](https://abc7.com/woodland-hills-la-county-heat-record-wave/6412268/)). That heat decides what fails: - **Capacitors, contactors and fan motors** on outdoor units that sit in full afternoon sun. - **Ductwork and coils in hot attics**, where summer attic heat cuts cooling before the air reaches the rooms. - **Refrigerant leaks and dirty coils** that a mild day hides and a heat wave exposes, when the system has no margin left. Our base is on Lena Avenue in West Hills, so the neighbourhood, Chatsworth and Hidden Hills are our closest calls. For repairs anywhere in Los Angeles see [AC repair in Los Angeles](https://elviraoceanair.com/ac-repair-ca/). Technician servicing an outdoor heat pump ## Repair or replace your system? A younger system with one failed part is usually worth repairing. When a compressor or coil fails on an older unit, when the system still runs on R-22 refrigerant, or when you have paid for several repairs in a few seasons, a new system is usually the better buy. Our pricing is up front, with no hidden fees; see [AC installation](https://elviraoceanair.com/ac-installation-ca/) and [heating installation](https://elviraoceanair.com/heating-installation-ca/).
